1. Introduction

PairPerks LLC ("we," "us," or "our") respects the privacy of our users ("user" or "you"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our application [pairperks.com].

2. Collection of Your Information

Personal Data

We collect your university email address (.edu), full name, date of birth, and demographic information (age, gender, ethnicity) to verify your student status, confirm you are at least 18 years old, and facilitate matching.

Psychographic Data

We collect responses to questionnaires regarding your values, lifestyle, and preferences.

Usage Data

We track your interaction with the platform, including match history and exclusive offer redemptions.

3. Use of Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Run our proprietary matching algorithm.
  • Send you weekly match notifications and verification codes.
  • Generate anonymous performance reports for our merchant partners (e.g., "5 couples visited this week"). We never share your name or contact info with merchants.

4. Disclosure of Your Information

  • To Your Match: When a mutual match is generated, we share your First Name and University Email with your matched partner to facilitate contact.
  • Service Providers: We employ third-party vendors and service providers to perform functions on our behalf, including email delivery (SendGrid, Resend), cloud hosting (Vercel), and analytics. These vendors only have access to the personal information necessary to provide the service and are contractually obligated to use it only for that purpose.
  • Merchant Partners: We share aggregated, de-identified analytics with merchant partners (e.g., "5 couples visited this restaurant this week"). This data cannot identify you and is provided only in aggregated form. We take reasonable steps to prevent re-identification; however, we cannot guarantee that all de-identified data cannot be re-identified when combined with other information.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order regarding a safety incident).

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Retention Schedule

  • Personal data (name, email, birthdate): Retained for duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Psychographic data (questionnaire responses): Retained for duration of account or 2 years, whichever is shorter
  • Usage data (match history): Retained for 12 months for fraud prevention, then deleted
  • Merchant analytics: Retained in aggregated form indefinitely; individual-level data deleted after 90 days

Deletion Rights

You may request the deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time via the "Delete Account" function in your profile settings or by contacting [email protected]. We will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (Google Analytics, Segment) to understand how you use PairPerks and improve our service. These third-party analytics providers may collect data about your browsing behavior. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension or adjusting your browser privacy settings. We do not sell or share analytics data with third parties beyond what is necessary for service operation.

7. FERPA & Educational Records

We collect university email addresses and verify enrollment status for eligibility purposes. We are not an educational institution and do not treat user data as educational records subject to FERPA. Your university does not operate PairPerks and is not responsible for our privacy practices. However, we comply with FERPA by not requesting or using educational records beyond enrollment verification.
